Up-cycling & Mens Sheds
Chisel and Oak prides itself on quality up-cycled furniture. We love transforming a unique piece of handcrafted wood into modern day bespoke furniture. Our up-cycling team can make any piece blend in with your interior decor at home. We specialise in up-cycling hardwood, real wood and solid furniture. We’re happiest when we see a customer leave with a totally bespoke piece for their home!!
Specialising in up-cycling hardwood, real wood and solid furniture, Chisel and Oak is proud of its finishes on each product. We love the challenge of taking a second hand piece to a whole new level for each customer. With a love for up-cycling, these pieces are sure to be a special part of any home.
We truly believe in giving something old a new lease of life through our up-cycling process. Not only do we ensure it is still structurally sound but we also make sure that the product retains its original character. Using quality reclaimed wood that would otherwise have been destined for landfill, Chisel and Oak creates unique furniture pieces that will suit any home interior.
Chisel and Oak are collaborating with Men’s Sheds on an exciting new project. Firstly, we are supporting Men’s Sheds with a bespoke woodwork and upholstery room on site here at our store.
After a short time, 7 youths from without education in the Limerick Region will join the Men’s Sheds to acquire Fetac level 4 qualifications in upholstery, upcycling and woodwork. Our goal is to create the best environment for youths locally to be able to upskill and absorb the value from the Men’s Sheds initiative in partnership with us here at Chisel and Oak on O’Curry Street in Limerick.
Mens Sheds Mission
The Irish Men’s Sheds Association was formed in 2011. However, the men’s shed movement originally started in Australia which inspired their Irish counterparts to begin their own movement. Following the formation of the first shed in Ireland, the shed movement began to grow rapidly, with there now being over 400 sheds registered with the Irish Men’s Sheds Association and at least 12,000 men visiting a shed every week.
Our mission is to support the development of the burgeoning men’s sheds movement in Ireland. As a grassroots organisation, we believe strongly in the autonomy of each individual shed, as we strive for a future in which all men have the opportunity to maintain and improve their well-being on their own terms and within their own communities.
We have created a set of values which we adopted following a national consultation of shed members, these are:
Honesty & Openness
Everything we do is transparent and accountable to the Shedders and to the public.
Equality & Inclusion
Our work creates places of belonging, participatory democracy, mutual respect, companionship and community for all Shedders.
We demonstrate and promote leadership in everything we do.
